Statement from the Spiritualists’ National Union – Thursday 11th June 2026.
“In the wake of the recent unrest in Belfast, we are reminded of how quickly a single act of violence can fracture communities and deepen sorrow. At a time when emotions run high and divisions can feel overwhelming, we must return to one of our most essential principles; THE BROTHERHOOD OF MAN, the understanding that every person is bound to one another through our shared humanity.
Today, more than ever, we are called to choose unity over division, compassion over anger, and dialogue over destruction. Our freedom of speech is one of our greatest strengths, but with that freedom comes responsibility.
Let us use our voices not to inflame tensions, but to uplift, to heal and to build bridges where other see walls. Violence may capture attention, but it never creates solutions. Only understanding, empathy and collective effort can do that.
Let us stand together – across communities, backgrounds, and beliefs, to affirm that nonviolence is not a passive stance, but a powerful commitment to shaping a better future. In this moment let us choose the energy of love over hate, unity over fear, and hope over despair. Let our words and actions be a force for peace.”
