The Role of SNU Ministers and Officiants

Since 1939, the Spiritualists’ National Union (SNU) has been legally recognised by the Home Office as the authority to appoint individuals to the highest offices within SNU Spiritualism.

Ministership is awarded to individuals who demonstrate exceptional character, possess the necessary qualifications, and shows a deep commitment to serving as Ministers of Religion.

SNU Ministers are afforded the same rights and privileges as ministers of other recognised faiths. The Ministry is governed by the Ministers Development Committee, operating under the direction of the National Executive Committee.

The SNU Ministry comprises of both Ministers and Officiants—referred to as Celebrants in Scotland—who work collaboratively to serve the spiritual community.
