What to expect at a Spiritualist Church?

Visiting a Spiritualist church for the first time?

You can expect a warm, welcome and a calm, inclusive environment, ran by a friendly team of volunteers.

Services often include uplifting music, an inspired address from a speaker, and a demonstration of mediumship offering messages from loved ones in spirit.

Some services may also include spiritual healing or meditation.

There’s no pressure to participate, and all are welcome. Just come as you are and experience the peaceful, supportive atmosphere for yourself.

No! All are welcome at a Spiritualist Church, regardless of whether it is your first visit or you have been going for decades.

Some demonstrations of mediumship and special events do have an entry cost, but many services are free or donation-only.

Many churches run Facebook pages or have their own websites, or you can contact them directly by using the details on our church database.

SNU Churches and Centres are functionally the same thing. Some centres focus on certain areas of development, training or interest within the movement, but they all offer broadly the same services, events and opportunities.

The best source of information for any church is to contact its committee! They will be able to help you with any queries or questions you may have about services, events, becoming a member and so much more.

You can find and contact your nearest church by using the details on our church database.

Joining a Spiritualist Church

Did you know you can become a member of a Spiritualist Church?

Joining a Spiritualist church is a welcoming and straightforward process. Whether you’re new to Spiritualism or looking for a new community, we invite you to visit a local church, attend services, and meet members.

Most churches offer introductory sessions or open days where you can learn more and ask questions.

When you’re ready, simply speak with the church leaders about becoming a member. Membership helps you connect deeply with the community and access spiritual guidance, healing, and events.

Becoming a member of a Church means you are not only helping to support the church, but you can also vote on matters that help decide its future at meetings, and may also have access to exclusive member opportunities, events, training and healing.

Some churches also offer discounts to demonstrations and events for members.

But mainly, being a member is about being a more involved and connected member of the churches community.

You can join a SNU Spiritualist Church or Centre by contacting them directly and speaking to a member of the committee.

They will be able to help provide you with all the information you need to become a member.

Yes!

Many people are not aware, but you can be a member of the Spiritualists’ National Union and a member of a Church. They are not the same thing.

For all you need to know about the different types of membership, visit our membership page.
