Philosophy – the heart of SNU Spiritualism

Spiritualism has often been referred to as the ‘thinking person’s’ religion, given its focus on evidence, communication and science.

It is also because philosophy has long been a tradition of Spiritualist churches, centres, speakers, and the movement’s pioneers.

Often using the Seven Principles as a foundation or starting point, Spiritualist teachings offer insight into all aspects of life.

Today, philosophy is once again returning to many of our churches and centres, and newer initiatives such as the SNU’s regular philosophy pamphlet series are striving to put the wisdom and enlightenment of Spiritualist thinking back at the forefront of the movement.

Spirit In Action

One of the creeds of Spiritualist philosophy is ‘Spirit in Action’, which refers to the four pillars of healing, peace, respect and evolution. It provides a basis for thinking how the beliefs and principles of Spiritualism can be put into practice for the betterment of all.

Evolution

Evolution is not just allowing things to move on without focus; it requires a change in disposition to direct movement, which is necessary for growth and survival and further development of original ideas.
