About Us
The Spiritualists’ National Union (SNU) is the leading organisation for Spiritualism in the UK. We support a network of churches, centres, and individuals committed to the study, practice, and celebration of Spiritualist philosophy, science, and religion. Through education, healing, and mediumship, we help people explore life’s spiritual journey and find meaning beyond the material world.
Founded in 1901, we are a not-for-profit limited company with charitable status in England & Wales (Registered Charity No. 261898) and Scotland (No. SC041714), dedicated to advancing Spiritualism. The SNU unites around 300 Spiritualist churches and centres, with over 2,500 individual members and approximately 11,500 subscribing members. Our success is driven by the dedication of our volunteers.

The SNU is a membership-based organisation, and operates a Three-Tier System to ensure effective communication between its members and leadership. This system allows members to share their views through local representatives, who relay them to the SNU Council and, ultimately, the National Executive Committee (NEC).
The SNU Council serves as the main hub for communication, bringing together key officers and representatives. Additionally, the Annual Conference provides a platform for the NEC to report on activities, for members to voice their opinions, and for voting on important motions.
The National Executive Committee is the governing body of the Spiritualists’ National Union, and its Board of Trustees. It is responsible for ensuring the legal and constitutional exercise of the Union’s powers in pursuit of its objects, setting the Union’s strategy, and overseeing the management of the Union’s finances and operations by delegation to its sub-Committees and senior management.
Forum of National Councillors representing each District Council, chaired by the Council Director who sits on the NEC.
Forum of District Councils that represent each Church, Centre and Members in the geographical location that they reside.
District Councils promote the religion and religious philosophy of Spiritualism and serve as a bridge between the wider organisation, local Churches and members.
