Important update & advisory regarding fraudulent emails.
As a public charity, the names, positions and some contact details for our figureheads are public information, and available on spaces such as the official SNU Website.
Unfortunately, this does allow bad faith actors to use this information to send fraudulent or spam emails, claiming to be members of the board or other senior persons in the Union. Whenever we learn of such fraudulent emails, we undertake security checks with our IT providers to ensure there have been no security or data breaches.
We would like to remind our members and friends to be diligent when opening and responding to emails from *anyone* claiming to be from the SNU. Official emails from the Union will almost always come from an email that ends ‘@snu.org.uk’ (with the exception of some committee and branch members).
Should you ever have any concerns or doubts about an email you have received from someone claiming to be from the SNU, please contact head office to report or check these on snu@snu.org.uk or via telephone on 01279 816363.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding this statement or its advice, please feel free to get in touch.
